What is the average fuel consumption for a taxi? Around town they will do about 25-30 mpg. On a run they will average about 30-35 mpg.
What is the maximum number of passengers? Five in the rear compartment. Although some people add a tip-up seat in the front luggage area. If you want a seat in the front we can add another tip-up seat in the front for £250.00.
Do taxis have seatbelts? Yes, FX4's and FX4 Plus taxis have 2 seatbelts in the back. Fairway and Fairway Driver taxis have 3 seatbelts in the back. For the forward facing seats there are 2 over the shoulder seatbelts for the outside seats and a lap belt for the middle seat. There is a seatbelt for the near-side tip-up seat but this is for use only for a wheelchair. All drivers seats have seatbelts.
What sort of mileage will an old London taxi have clocked up? This is a difficult one. Most odometers on these taxis stop on or around 100,000 miles some are replaced some are not. There is no legal requirement to keep a check on vehicle mileage in the UK.
Will you be able to take my old car in part exchange? No, unfortunately we only buy and sell taxis.
What age are the oldest taxis that you sell? The oldest taxis that we sell are usually fromlondon 1986 or 1987.
Can you change the paperwork to make a taxi appear older than it actually is? No, we will not get involved in that sort of thing.
Can we advertise our taxi on your site? No, we only list our own taxis for sale on Elite London Taxis but you can advertise on our advertising site at: www.taxi-mart.co.uk.
If the taxi has adverts on the sides what will the paint work be like underneath? The sides will almost certainly need painting afterwards as the adverts are ripped off and changed every 4 months or so.
Will it fit in my garage? The dimensions of an FX4 or Fairway are: Height: 1.765m, Width: 1.750m, Length: 4.558m and Weight: 1.650kg.
How big is the boot (trunk)? Pretty small, just enough for a set of golf clubs.
Do any taxis have a service history? Not generally although some of the newer ones do.
